Any time I read you, I'm glad there's another "furry" writer I can learn from on Substack to up my own game.

Grazie mille good sir. High praise indeed. If there is any "secret" to what I do, it's in finding the emotional core of everything before layering on the aesthetics. For lack of better words, bringing humanity to the characters above all else. Knox in particular is one of my favorites to write. On the surface a Patton-like commander, but beneath a coiled spring of grief, loss, rage and a desire to save. His father-son dynamic with Gibson in stories like "Children of the Neon Goddess" really is one of the first times I got emotionally involved in a story for the series: https://365infantry.substack.com/p/iii-children-of-the-neon-goddess

Adam Knox? Sounds... familiar.

Setting aside the fact it's an origin story for the 365th Infantry's current general, it's one of those names I was REALLY proud of coming up with early in pre-production. A nice, strong, robust name.

It's interesting how the names you come up with all sound so solid, like heavy slabs of stone that rest in my mind. A lot of the names I create all have some whimsy to it. They roll off the tongue like the breeze. Well, mostly.
