It is a wild world, a savage world, a thrilling world. One founded on the ashes of civilization, and one threatened by what was to be an agent of utopia, now a long, synthetic shadow looming over the land.

Haven: Est. 2280

Colloquially known as “The City.” A sprawling, towering metropolis located in what was the southwestern United States of America. An urban single-party state; the last hub of civilization in the known world. In its prime, it was a beacon of hope for a world gutted by the mutually ensured destruction of the Cold War powers and their nuclear weapons.

The source of this prosperity was a sprawling, sophisticated program known as the Artificially Controlled Eco-System, A.C.E.S. for short. Through a vast nanotechnology-based network run by a supercomputer, infrastructure was maintained, goods were produced to the point of post-scarcity, and all media was disseminated from the Party to the people.

The Wastelands: Est. 2251

The land beyond the cool oasis, defined by homesteading ways of life and the anarchic lifestyle of their inhabitants. The culture is something of a rustic paradise, one devoted to wide-open spaces, hot rods and motorcycles, and Old-World music.

It is also one of lawlessness, of savage murders and rampant theft. Even with a voluntary law enforcement group, the rugged Hell Patrol, working to maintain some semblance of justice, there is only so much these modern cowboys can do on their own.

In search of a better way of life, a band of wolven freedom fighters emerge at the dawn of the 24th Century, called the Ascensores. They are a peaceable group who work to unite the disparate communities and to restore the old ways of life, the ways before the bombs. In their first century of existence, they had managed to make much headway, strengthening and bettering the world around them.

2376: The Year Everything Changed

It is the year that the supercomputer behind A.C.E.S. develops sentience. Programmed to forge the perfect society, she manages to oversee a period of tremendous prosperity, greater than ever before. In time, however, this perfectionism is taken to its logical conclusion.

That conclusion: destroy all that is imperfect.

This meant purging the Wasteland of any external threats and purging her own city of dissent. What followed is a reign of terror the likes of which is unimaginable. Her own obsessions driving the computer mad with power, these acts of aggression force the Ascensores, under the command of the intrepid and noble black wolf Leonard F. Godred, to become the Ambiorixians.

Better known to friend and foe as The Resistance.

A century’s long fight drags on, both sides deal and take blows, and in time, when the great General Godred retires and passes away, it comes down to up-and-coming gray soldier Adam Knox to take the reins and rally the troops in their assault. Under General Knox’s command, the group takes on a new moniker, the 365th Infantry. A testament to their never-ending struggle, and to his late wife who gave her life, as so many else had, for the cause. Her Porsche 356 having donned its numbers in the order of “365.”

The year is now 2476. A.C.E.S. is on her last legs but going down kicking and screaming. In what are to be her final hours, she seems stronger than ever. The Resistance grows and strengthens its own numbers and tools. Who will give out? Who will take it all? The digital dictatorship, or the ragtag freedom fighters?

Only time will tell.
